We recommend regular vaccinations, heartworm prevention, flea control, and deworming for your pet.  While those are components of great pet care, the foundation is an annual, comprehensive wellness exam.  While you know your pet best, it’s important to remember that dogs and cats can’t communicate clearly, and often fail to show symptoms of pain or illness, necessitating a periodic examination by your pet’s veterinarian.

Deworming

We recommend that puppies and kittens have a series of four dewormings.  Initially, both are dewormed for roundworms and subsequent dewormings target tapeworms and, for dogs, whipworms and hookworms.

As adults, we recommend that dogs and cats are either on a monthly product that prevents heartworms and the internal parasites listed above, or dewormed four times per year for the internal parasites.

Please speak to your pet’s veterinarian about which option is best.
